If Donald Trump is the nominee, I’ve got a new spin on an old phrase: Hillary Republican.
Democrats hate him. Establishment Republicans hate him. Socialists hate him. Trump is the only hope we have, as far as candidates go.
Some people actually seem confused, crying that these presidential candidates are a huge disappointment. Say what? The quiet, more reserved and intellectual candidates were thrown out for those with big mouths making big promises.
One contributor wondered who got to Sen. Jerry Moran. It could have been people like me who called the offices of Moran and Sen. Pat Roberts and urged them to vote against Obama’s court pick.
Moran’s commentary about the FairTax was so rosy-hued it sounded more like the Good Fairy Tax (“Security failures highlight need for tax reform,” April 17 Opinion).
I’ve been eagerly waiting to read or hear about all of the fracking in Japan and now Ecuador following those earthquakes. Isn’t that what causes them?
So the majority county commissioners can repeal a contract with a local, reputable vendor because the chairman personally doesn’t care for them? So much for transparency. Is this legal? Watch out, other local businesses. If you use free speech against the commissioners, it may cost you.
I “personally” don’t like three members of the Sedgwick County Commission. Can I have them removed? If it works for Commission Chairman Jim Howell, why not the rest of us?
Question No. 1 for the new Sedgwick County request for bids: “Did you vote for Jim Howell, Richard Ranzau or Karl Peterjohn? If ‘yes,’ proceed; you are a preferred vendor. If ‘no,’ do not proceed. Even if you are qualified and submit the low bid, you have no chance.”
I’ll tell you why Colorado’s pot business is harmful. I don’t want a high driver facing me on the street. I don’t want my kid’s teacher high. I don’t want my doctor being high doing surgery on me. Enough? Stoner nation, that’s why.
TV ads promote having colon cancer screening. My insurer recommends a colonoscopy no sooner than 10 years since the last one, regardless of my doctor’s recommendation. Any sooner and I pay for all of it. What about preventive medical care?
I’m sick of hearing about selfies and zombies.
