Moran, Huelskamp, Jenkins rank high for town halls

Many Democrats in Congress continue to avoid town halls, perhaps because they remain haunted by the rowdy ones related to health care reform that helped give rise to the tea party movement. According to LegiStorm, the top dozen town hall holders for 2016 so far are all Republicans, including three Kansans. Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., was ranked fifth in Congress, having held 26 events through April 11. Reps. Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler/Hutchinson, and Lynn Jenkins, R-Topeka, were ranked seventh (with 22) and 12th (with 16), respectively. LegiStorm credits Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-Overland Park, with five town halls in 2016; Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, with two; and Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., with none. – Rhonda Holman
