What about my right not to live next door to an abandoned, blighted house that costs me thousands of dollars in lost value and possible health problems for my family? Landlords and owners walk away, leaving taxpayers to pay for cleanup and demolition.


Brownback could have helped people like me who try to get owners to fix blighted homes, but give up and paint and mow ourselves so our once-nice neighborhoods and our property values don’t go to heck. But then he doesn’t have to live next to a blighted home, does he?


Property rights are a scam perpetrated by those who already have property.


When the Republican establishment and Democrat establishment both blast the same presidential candidate, we just might have identified the best man for the job.

Opinion pieces praised public health for a week. Public health has been successful with macro issues like water supply and sewage treatment. It’s largely failed with individual issues like obesity, diabetes prevention and prenatal health.


That a student can threaten to shoot a teacher and only be suspended for two days is an outrage. When people simply perceive that teachers threaten kids, especially their feelings, there’s hell to pay.


Before WSU looks for corporate sponsors for football, how about finding a sponsor for the pep band and fixing baseball? Moving to a big-name league without those two things in order will make us look like wannabes.
