Opinion Line Extra (April 12)

Why would voters who elected a community agitator as president in 2008 not be OK with someone who became a very successful business leader?

In my travels around the world, when people ask, “What is the matter with the U.S.?” I always tell them that we have some of the most ignorant people in the world. How else can you explain voting for a racist who won’t say how he will accomplish anything?

Conservatives have been giving Bernie Sanders a free pass. They never criticize him or his platform, because he’s running against Hillary Clinton. Which makes him an ally. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the money he gets for his campaign is from conservatives.

So much about Trump and his talk and behavior and how terrible he is. But nothing about Hillary. The media manage to always give a bye to cover her up on her terrible deadly and costly decisions. Not to mention her great way of lying to all of us.

I can’t help but notice that over the nearly eight years of the current communist-in-chief, there has been less and less griping about Richard Nixon, and is now practically none.

Kansas legislative Republicans: Your solution to the education budget is to force local property tax increases on retired and middle-class homeowners when the richest Kansans pay no income tax? Enough already. Democrats never raised my taxes as high as you have.

Brownback and those who follow his evil ideology (privatization, defunding public education and services for the middle class and poor, the elderly and the disabled) are taking Kansas back into the dark ages. The leaders of Kansas have declared war on the poor and the dwindling middle class.

It would be interesting to know how many state legislators are small-business owners and are benefiting from the disastrous tax cuts. The departure of the K-State president is probably just the beginning of a stampede of competent people heading for greener pastures.

The Missouri Lottery has ads that say lotto sales benefit their state education system. If my memory serves me, that was supposed to be the case when Kansas voted for the lottery. Did the same folks who stole our “untouchable” Social Security funds get the lotto money, too?

As we live in the land of the perpetually offended, I have had my feelers out. I am upset that one of the spell-check options on my name is “Lardy.” That is clearly over the top and disrespectful. Whom do I contact for just compensation?

Oh, how I miss the old local TV 6 o’clock evening news half hour, when there was news, weather and sports. Now we have four weather reports in the half hour.
