Opinion Line (Jan. 17)

I don’t get it. President Obama ignores the anti-terrorist march in Paris and then turns around and releases five more Gitmo detainees. Sounds like a bad movie.

If President Obama had gone to France for the march with other heads of state, conservatives would be screaming about the millions of dollars it takes to move the president across the globe on short notice. He can’t win with those people.

Does any religion condone violence? If you are a member of one of the three Abrahamic religions, you have to look no further than Deuteronomy to answer a resounding “yes.”

Sure, I get a little upset when comedians make jokes about my God and Savior. I’ll even admit I get mad, but I don’t go out and mass-murder people or behead anyone.

If there really were a God, he could stop all the religious killings with a not-so-gentle nudge with a lightning bolt. A few weeks of that would halt all the so-called fanatics in their tracks. Ah, but there is no such entity.

Any terrorists caught in the act should be shot on sight. They show no mercy and should receive no mercy.

Gov. Sam Brownback was sworn in Monday. How much did this cost Kansas taxpayers? He never left office, so it should have been business as usual.

Dear Governor: Was that a shot of adrenaline or Depo-Provera?

As Kansas continues toward economic ruin, Brownback identifies the state’s biggest challenge as a moral “crisis of the family,” ignoring the crisis for families he created. What ruthless manipulation of the citizenry. Excuse me – I just threw up a little in my mouth.

I support legalizing marijuana. It will create good-paying jobs, and help get rid of a black market full of thugs and thieves who don’t care about your health or how old your kids are.

If you’re an adult, married with children and still smoke pot, you need to be slapped – really hard.

I want to know why the state of Kansas allows “Card Services” to call people at least once a day. I have never dealt with them and I am on the no-call list. They are hateful and do not remove your name from their list.

I was so frustrated I turned off the Ohio State-Oregon game – the greatest football game of the season. One comes to watch the national championship game and not the commentators. ESPN had it all backward, featuring the nonessentials at the cost of watching the game on full screen.

Ah, snow – the great equalizer. All those morning drivers in a rush to get to work have to slow down or risk the consequences.
