Does KU have more sex offenses or better reporting?

AP

The University of Kansas has the second highest number of reported sex offenses in the Big 12 Conference (32 in 2014), the Lawrence Journal-World reported. Only the University of Texas, which has more than twice as many students, had more reported sex offenses (51). Kansas State University was fifth highest with 16 total reported sex offenses. KU also had the most reported sex offenses in on-campus housing (16). University officials say the high total is due to KU’s ongoing efforts to increase reporting of sexual assaults, which are up sixfold in three years. KU is also the subject of lawsuits by a former KU student and her parents alleging that the university improperly handled her rape report and misled the public by representing campus housing as safe. – Phillip Brownlee
