Will there even be enough money in the general state coffers by the end of the year to hire Nero to fiddle a swan song for poor old Kansas?

Unlike most of the rest of us in Kansas who use debit cards, our Legislature and governor are using deficit cards.

Want to drive a Democrat nuts? Cut taxes. Want to make a Democrat apoplectic? Turn down “free” federal funds.

Members of the Kansas Legislature and governor: When you took your oath of office, you placed your hand on the Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution. You didn’t place your hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible.

Ever heard of cause and effect? Check our governor’s and legislators’ actions, decisions and scorn connected with “public education” in Kansas. Then consider and wish well a most able and successful KSU president as he moves to Washington State University. It starts at the top.

USD 259 has 10,000 employees. The Eagle stated USD 259 spends about $10,500 annually on health benefits per employee. That’s $105 million a year. It wouldn’t have a budget problem if it would get a more competitive and less expensive plan.

Has anyone else noticed that USD 259 seems to cut everyone and everything but administration? I say, look at all those job titles that are “administrators” and start chopping. You could cut a lot and tell the rest to do more with less.

If you are a retired or middle-class homeowner in Kansas and blindly voted for Republicans, how do you like it now that your state income tax has gone up, utility companies get a rate hike any time they want, and the state has no money for basic services?

Since it’s been determined that Westar Energy is overcharging for the transmission of electricity, why is it getting an immediate increase for the transmission of electricity? Could there be Westar stockholders on the KCC?

Now that Westar transmission rates are based on power used during peak hours, will the turnpike charge higher tolls during rush hours? Will restaurants have higher prices during the lunch and dinner hours?

Do away with income tax. Implement sales tax. Tax scammer fraud gone.

Every time Rep. Mike Pompeo opens his mouth, the Koch brothers speak through it.

At least Sen. Jerry Moran understands his duties as a senator. He stated that he would not vote for the Supreme Court nominee. It seems the Republicans are missing a chance to show they can lead rather than obstruct.

There is only one presidential candidate who caused two diplomats and two other Americans to get killed in Benghazi.

Instead of working three jobs to get by when I was younger, I should have been lobbying for a higher minimum wage. Who knew?
