California has passed a bill that will take its minimum wage to $15 per hour. We’ll now see if a slogan trumps economics. Texas and other states are cheering.
Of course Kansas is more susceptible to earthquake damage. California has strict earthquake building codes. Kansas has none. Stop the fracking.
Earthquakes caused by fracking? Not hardly. That would be Gov. Sam Brownback rummaging through closets in the Capitol late at night looking for money.
Thank you, governor and Legislature. As a retired couple with medical expenses and no increase in income, we get an increase of more than $700 in state income taxes. On the federal side, we pay about the same as last year. Yet some small-business owners pay nothing in state income taxes.
If our state is in such financial trouble, how were we able to raise all the legislators’ per diem allowances by 8.5 percent last year?
What good is a tax cut if you don’t have a decent job?
If you can’t afford the maintenance and upkeep on a Ferrari, don’t have one. It is not society’s responsibility to help you with that. It’s not different for babies. If you can’t fund one, don’t have one.
OK, I get it. I’m sorry. I’ll quit telling you to use your turn signal. I didn’t know you were too busy texting, smoking, drinking a Coke and trying to drive your car, too. You simply couldn’t do it.
I thought it was against the law to have a vehicle with blackened windows. You can’t see the driver. If I were a cop, I would be leery.
It would be interesting to know what Wichita’s new police chief is thinking when he drives his personal unmarked car and sees everyone passing him going 10-15 mph faster than the posted speed limits.

I am so grateful that we are blessed to have these rescued elephants in our zoo, and to all those who made it possible. Otherwise, Donald Trump Jr. might have gone to Africa and shot one of them just so he could cut the tail off and pose for another picture.
