The recent Amtrak derailment and the fires show the goodness of Kansans, and their willingness to volunteer. Then why do we have a government that in the same situation is a giant ogre that can’t tie its shoe?
Poor people, old people, hungry children and foreclosed homeowners did not cause the national and Kansas deficits. War profiteering, tax cuts for the wealthy and corporate welfare did.
The job creators aren’t creating new jobs. Tax them and use that money to hire more law enforcement officers, health care workers, teachers, and road and bridge repair crews. That would be real job creating.
So our legislators rearrange the chairs on the Titanic and think they’ve solved the school funding problem. This after passing a law that hamstrings cities from raising taxes to fund what the state won’t. How do they have the gall to go home for a month after that performance?
Prepare for all schools to be shut down. Our idiots in political offices think they will appease the court system by just moving underfunding around to different school districts without adding money to it. They must have learned Common Core math.
Here are some ideas for USD 259 cuts: JROTC, 60 buses to the new Southeast High next year, administration, travel, VISA cards, new office furniture, remodeling dollars. And sell some old vacant buildings.
As long as USD 259 is considering privatizing custodial services, it should add landscape services and complete HVAC maintenance services to the list. Cost savings would be great.
Wichita citizens have already voted to lessen the marijuana laws, so why is the Police Department just now wanting to close the shops with supplies for smoking? It’s just more of the establishment trying to control the masses.
Those who think socialism is the fairest economic system clearly never served in the military or worked for the government. The world’s three biggest oxymorons are “military intelligence,” “government efficiency” and “congressional ethics.”
The GOP created the conditions that let loose its probable presidential nominee. Now the leaders of the GOP and its big donors are frantically trying to contain the storm they unleashed. “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.” (Hosea 8:7)
Obama lauded his success of forming a 60-member coalition to fight ISIS. I haven’t heard much about these silent members. Are they countries or people?
We are not the police of the world. And if Obama was in Cuba or America after the Brussels attack, what was he going to do about it? And, no, I did not vote for him.
Brussels should make you pause and thank every police officer and firefighter you see for their lifesaving service to us every day. Quit expecting perfection and affirm them at every opportunity. Where would we be without them? We do not want to find out.
