Opinion Line Extra (March 23)

If any of the Republican presidential candidates succeeds in gaining the White House, our long national nightmare will begin again.

I didn’t have a dog in the fight until the haters starting bashing Donald Trump. Now I know Trump is the one. Liberals are haters.

Supporting Trump is a lot like buying a lottery ticket. Your chances of losing big time far outweigh the chances of winning big time.

If the Obama campaign had been protested by blocking a road and keeping the supporters from getting to the rally, those people would have been arrested. The whole reason people support Trump is because we are tired of the government shoving things and ideas down our throats.

I’ve heard it said that if Trump wants to keep the rioters away from his political rallies, all he has to do is call them “job fairs” instead of rallies. The rioters will run the other way.

It’s not surprising that the KU students want Bernie Sanders elected: free college. Who’s going to pay?

Liberals: You can voice your opinion. Quit trying to shut mine up.

Even though his legacy is cemented and he’ll be easily regarded as our greatest president, Barack Obama traveled to Cuba to replace a century of warmongering with hope, change and a vision for lasting peace. He is possibly the most consequential leader in human history.

President Obama cannot make nice with Republicans. However, he greets our mortal enemies Iran and Cuba with open arms. He is a very unique personality.

The Castros are being very much like Americans. They didn’t want to greet Obama either.

I was hoping someone would find an obscure rule that banned anyone who goes from the U.S. to Cuba from ever returning to the United States. They could have kept Obama and his pals.

The Republicans are unanimous that having well over 20 percent of a term remaining is not a sufficient amount of time to justify President Obama nominating a replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia. How much remaining time in office is sufficient – 30 percent, 50 percent, 100 percent?

It’s not that the Senate “refuses to consider a Supreme Court nominee.” The Republicans are just saying it may take until Jan. 20, 2017, to get around to it. As if Democrats wouldn’t do exactly the same thing. Perfectly legal and constitutional. Deal with it.

The Kansas Republicans should be proud of Sens. Jerry Moran and Pat Roberts. They are neglecting to live by the oath of office they took by refusing to even meet with President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee.
