Measures will help keep Old Town safe at closing time

Good for Wichita police, city officials and business owners for moving decisively to enhance safety in Old Town late at night. Though crime in Old Town has dropped in recent years, there still are occasional problems as the bars close on the weekends – including a recent shooting that left four people injured. Wichita Police Chief Gordon Ramsay met with some bar owners, who agreed on several changes. The city also plans to add more lighting and security cameras, and the police already have assigned more officers to Old Town near closing time.
