So Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Republicans are opposing Obama’s Supreme Court choice because they want Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton to make the next pick?

President Obama has nominated wisely. Hey, Sen. McConnell, how does it feel with that rock on one side and that hard place on the other?

If I told my boss, “I won’t work until I get a new boss,” I’d be fired. U.S. Senate: Do your job, or you could be fired at the next election.

The appointment of the next Supreme Court justice will be of longer-lasting consequence to the country and individual liberty than any particular president. The only person I trust to make a nomination to the court is Ted Cruz. He will select a true constitutional conservative.

Who in his right mind goes to North Korea for a vacation? Now the U.S. is going to spend millions of dollars to try to get this idiot released. Leave him in prison.

I see that the U.S. House passed a unanimous resolution acknowledging that ISIS is committing genocide in the Middle East. Wow. I continue to marvel at the courage of our leaders.

Kansas is being run like a failing business. We need a turnaround artist to sack all the current managers.

If you look up “bully” in the dictionary, there should be Kansas House Speaker Ray Merrick’s picture. If you don’t do what he wants but do what your voters want, he goes into overkill mode and demotes you.

For 40 years, we’ve bought into every promised fix for low student achievement. None has worked. Only competition will work. When will Kansans demand student-directed tuition vouchers for any public or private school?

Bullying has always occurred and is always going to occur. What has changed over the years is that parents do not teach their kids how to handle it. You just keep your mouth shut and move on.

There is now talk about installing a bunch of security cameras in Old Town. Those who want to sacrifice privacy in the name of security deserve neither. We do not need a surveillance state apparatus in Wichita.

I don’t recognize this country anymore: A simple fistfight makes the evening news and the morning paper. No guns, no knives, just a bare-knuckle exchange. When I was young, those were as common as sunflowers in Kansas. Afterward, we often shook hands and went on our way.

There are still children in Sedgwick County who are hungry every day, and homeless people, including military veterans. Yet we are going to spend a lot of money feeding and housing six more elephants while humans who need help will go without it.

PETA and the others used the wrong word. The elephants weren’t snatched. They were rescued.
