More discouraging news of aviation layoffs

Wichita and area aviation workers suffered another major blow with the Thursday announcement that Bombardier is laying off 620 people from its Wichita facility. The company blamed the layoffs on weak demand for the Learjet 85 business jet. For several years, analysts have forecast a strong recovery for general aviation, including projections of double-digit growth in deliveries in 2015. Maybe that will still happen, but the year is beginning with more discouraging news and hardship. – Phillip Brownlee
