Opinion Line Extra (March 8)

Bernie Sanders beat Hillary Clinton in the Kansas caucus. So why was that headline-grabbing idiot Donald Trump pictured next to Ted Cruz on the front page of Sunday’s Eagle?


Amazing, Kansas voters: You vote in Brownback again. You believe him and the establishment in Washington. And now you fall hook, line and sinker for Ted Cruz. The very essence of Washington political life – lie and deceit.


Venezuela was once an economic success thanks to its embrace of capitalism. About 18 years ago it voted for socialism. Now Venezuelans can’t buy toilet paper, as their country is an economic basket case. Et tu, USA?


A recent Celebrity Cipher in The Eagle was a wise and still pertinent quotation by George Washington: “Individuals entering into society, must give up a share of liberty to preserve the rest.”


My vote of confidence will go to the first Republican presidential candidate who suspends his campaign after finally realizing his party’s dark future is the result of a lack of devotion to the plight of average Americans.


Watching the Republicans debate is like watching another episode of “Mad Men.”


Is it just me, or are the Republican presidential wannabes acting like undisciplined fifth-grade schoolyard bullies and name-callers? Seriously, the only thing they are good for is making fun of people.


The average supermarket profit on every dollar spent by customers is 1 to 3 cents. The state of Kansas makes a profit on every dollar spent by customers of 6.5 cents. And we wonder why so many grocery stores across our state are closing.


No bikes on or near Pawnee Prairie Park concrete walking paths, please.


There are lots of vehicles on our highways whose turn-signal fluid must be very low. If so, please refill and start signaling.


I am curious as to whether utilities and retailers have begun dropping their prices due to lower fuel prices.


If we’re going to sue gun manufacturers for mass shootings, then we’ll have to sue cellphone companies for crashes while texting and driving.


To shed some light on the school funding issue, I think The Eagle should publish the salary, including benefits, of the top 10 individuals of every school district in Kansas.


I wonder why you would take years of school to be a teacher, and forget to ask about your hours and pay. And after all of those years as a student, you are surprised to see naughty kids? I thought you were supposed to be smart. I am confused.
