Opinion Line (Feb. 29)

Instead of the GOP presidential candidates duking it out verbally at their lecterns, let’s simplify the selection rigmorale by placing them in a boxing ring using bare fists. The last man standing gets the nomination.

Please pray that Bernie Sanders is elected president so that the people who are voting for Donald Trump will have access to the mental health care they so desperately need.

It could get interesting if Trump and Sanders wind up as the candidates. The elite who rule would soil their underwear. Nah – it’ll never happen. Both parties would cheat.

I don’t understand why Donald Trump is running for president. Why would you want the most stressful job in the country when you could use your billions to have fun with your wife, travel the world, help others, go fishing, help a church, etc.?

Trump asked if he was being audited by the IRS because he is Christian. No, Donald, if we could get Lois Lerner to answer any questions she could tell you it is because you are now a Republican.

Has there ever been a time in American history when our presidential choices were as pitiful and pathetic as Hillary, Bernie and Trump?

Ironically, liberals would be in an uproar if their iPhones lacked a high level of security, but open borders to foreigners and drugs do not seem to pose a problem to them.

The GOP-ruled Senate refuses to consider a Supreme Court nominee even if it’s Jesus Christ. This is a refusal to do the Senate’s constitutional job. Why do we pay senators for criminal inaction? Why do we accept the non-governing body thrust upon us by the corporate right wing?

If the next president provides free college tuition, I would expect that the policy would be retroactive for me, my husband and all our children for both our bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Whatever happened to working your way through college?

All high school and college competitive athletics should be privatized – funded by the NBA, NFL, PGA, FIFA, etc., since they are the beneficiaries of student athletes. Taxpayer money should benefit all children by providing basic education rather than gladiator contests.

Anyone who complains about teachers obviously has never walked a mile in their shoes. Bless them all for doing their job, in a state with less than ideal conditions and recognition.

When in the world are the gun nuts going to wake up? It’s now happened in our state, near our community. And the shooter was “such a nice guy.”
