Assault rifles don’t kill people. People with assault rifles kill people. So when are we going to figure out that maybe not every Tom, Dick and Harry should have access to an assault rifle?

Several people dead and a dozen injured, and the perpetrator was a convicted criminal. Yet he was able to easily obtain an assault rifle. Why do members of the NRA, our governor and state legislators value God’s most precious gift, the gift of life, so cheaply?

A mass shooting in sleepy Hesston on Thursday and advertising in The Eagle on Friday for a big gun show where anybody can buy automatic weapons. The NRA is also at fault.

America doesn’t have a gun problem. It has a crazy people problem.

Rich people have been conning poor people forever. Donald Trump is just a fresh approach.

Trump has brought all of the misogynist bigots in our country together to form one big festering boil on our backsides. Time to lance it.

Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump for president? Have the American people completely lost their minds?

Regrettably, the accusations the three leading Republican candidates have leveled at each other are true, and their behavior should further disqualify them from any high office.

If Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz were running for liar in chief, it would be difficult to choose between them. They’re both so accomplished.

Why do we waste time listening to the presidential debates? The candidates have no idea whether they will be able to deliver what they promise, so why do we believe them?

The only presidential candidate to do less than Marco Rubio in Congress is Bernie Sanders.

Sanders is quick to advocate the “democratization” of nearly everything: health care, education, wages, food, housing, opportunity. This foolishness would be laughable if not for the multitude Josef Stalin called “useful idiots,” who fail to understand that “free” stuff is almost universally worth, well, nothing.

One has to wonder: What if John McCain had picked a qualified running mate?

It is sad that the president has lots of time to focus on Cuba and Gitmo but little time for job creation and the economy.

Giving Iran the nuke deal wiped out its economic sanctions, allowing it to flood the world with more oil and drive the oil prices even lower. Obama sure has his ways of continuing to stomp our economy into the ground, as many thousands more oil company employees will get released.

Why is it every time The Wichita Eagle says something about the price of oil going down, QuikTrip has raised the prices?
