The reason that the state budget is in such a mess is because social conservatives, not fiscal conservatives, are running things.


Kansas Democrats are still upset about welfare recipients not being able to purchase tattoos and piercings with assistance money. But perhaps these recipients will have better luck finding work without so much ink and metal on their bodies.


Some of you can remember when Kansans, rich and poor, young and old, worked together for the common good. We wanted the best public school system in the world, not the cheapest. The middle class was strong and full of hope for the future. What happened?


I’m certain I know why legislators are against Common Core. Their third-graders had homework that they didn’t understand.


KU leadership is out of control and the Kansas Board of Regents isn’t much better. The KU officials heading the Campus Development Corp. should be fired. They intentionally bypassed the Legislature, designated by Kansans to approve state bonding.


If I were Marco Rubio, I would ask Sam Brownback to endorse someone else. Remember Rick Perry?


Since Donald Trump seems to be an actual candidate now, it’s time for him to start thinking about a running mate. I suggest Phil Robertson, any Kardashian or Jerry Springer. They share his core values – greed, love of the spotlight and a penchant for vulgarity.


Maybe, considering the history of bad geopolitical decisions, this pope should stay out of American politics. It’s too easy to take cheap shots when you’ve got no skin in the game. Or does he?


Leave it to this all-time worst do-nothing Congress to refuse to confirm a new Supreme Court justice until Obama is gone. The worst example of obstruct, obstruct, obstruct. They are cowards. Kick ’em all out.


A recent tweet from Sedgwick County’s financial retreat included photos of commissioners and staff. The new communications director will need Photoshop skills to remove gray-haired white guys and drop in some diversity.


Each morning I slow down to drive through several school zones. What surprises me is that most of those speeding are the parents pulling out of the school parking lot. I guess once they drop off their children, anything goes.


When I see a man wearing a bun, I can’t help but think about my grandma.
