We’ve progressed as a society to a point where everyone has rights but no one has responsibilities.
No matter how important you think you are, whether you are a customer standing in line or a Supreme Court justice, the first word you may hear upon your departure is: “Next!”
Justice Antonin Scalia was a towering intellect. His is a benchmark for the others who believe they are as well.
I found it disturbing, though not surprising, that Obama decided to not attend the funeral service for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. That decision speaks volumes.
It’s a sad day when the Democratic Party can only muster up a socialist and a woman who lacks integrity and honesty to be its candidates for the highest office in the land.
Donald Trump is the Republicans’ Obama. Both use the first-person pronouns liberally (no pun intended). Do we really want another president like the one we’ve had for the past eight years?
If the Kansas Legislature strikes terror in our hearts, may we call it a terrorist organization?
If our Legislature eliminates AP and IB courses because of an unfounded disbelief in the Common Core, curriculum modifications statewide will cost millions. Some legislators also want to modify the U.S. Constitution because they don’t trust the federal government. And they wonder why we don’t trust the state government.
The AP program allowed my granddaughter to enter WSU as a sophomore. As a result, her total cost for her degree will be 25 percent less and her fourth year can be spent getting her master’s. Why does the Legislature not see the value of the AP and IB programs?
Well, at least the governor is consistent. His tax policies are as flawed as his Department for Children and Families.
The DCF is a bloated, self-serving agency that consistently lets our vulnerable children fall through its cracks. Either get rid of it entirely or get some credible oversight for it. But I’m sick and tired of hearing it claim how much it cares for kids.
You can’t buy certain drugs and put them in your body. You can’t prostitute your body. You can’t have an assisted effort to kill your body. Yet you can legally end the life of an unborn child because a woman can do what she likes with her own body.
Pro-life? Really? Aren’t tea partiers also pro-guns, pro-death penalty, pro-war and anti-health care?
We do not need to raise the speed limit to 80 mph on any roads. No one needs to be in that much of a hurry. There are enough fools speeding with a cellphone stuck to their ear. A higher limit will mean more horrific crashes and more people dying.
Allen Ginsberg symbolized the losers of his generation, and his poetry has only become more irrelevant with age. Fortunately, pseudo-intellectuals of his type now find it at least marginally more difficult to bluff their way through life and freeload off society.
