Opinion Line Extra (Feb. 22)

I have seen many homeless people. It still shocks me that this exists in the land of plenty – plenty for some.

So Tim Cook of Apple does not believe he has to follow the law. I hope he has fun in prison.

Stick to your guns, Apple. The feds aren’t asking Apple to unlock just the San Bernardino terrorists’ cellphones. The feds are asking Apple to give them encryption keys to unlock all similar Apple phones in the world.

If the U.S. Constitution was meant to be law forever, why are there so many amendments?

Republicans seem to believe they can ignore the Constitution, which says the president nominates Supreme Court justices and the Senate votes to confirm or not. It says nothing about postponing the process. It’s kind of odd that Justice Antonin Scalia was renowned for voting to do exactly what the Constitution says.

It’s obvious that God called Scalia home because He wants Obama to select the next Supreme Court justice. So any Republican who tries to stall the nomination is going against God.

President Obama should nominate Al Gore for Supreme Court justice.

Sen. Pat Roberts has misinterpreted the Republican constituents’ anger, attributing it to not blocking Obama’s agenda. It is really because lawmakers have wasted seven years being obstructionists instead of doing what they were elected to do. Members of Congress should have their pay docked to pay for these fiascoes.

The presidency is not a novelty position where you place someone there because it’s different for difference’s sake. You don’t vote for someone just because they are black or female or, worse, a socialist. What’s wrong with you people who vote like this?

Donald Trump may be financing his campaign with his own money, but I am sure he will get it back from the American consumer through his businesses.

The more the media slam Trump, the more the general people like him.

Break out the goggles: Donald Trump and the pope are slinging mud.

Perhaps Pope Francis should take a long look at the huge wall around Vatican City before he declares that building walls is un-Christian.

Has anyone else noticed the similarities in the words, message and philosophies of Pope Francis and Bernie Sanders?

The state’s efficiency expert firm must be staffed by a bunch of wet-behind-the-ears idiots. Use-it-or-lose-it policies result in a use-it mentality where excess funds are dispensed for nonessentials simply to justify the next budget request.

Columnist Leonard Pitts nailed it again (Feb. 15 Opinion). I am pro-choice. I have many pro-choice friends. Not a single one of us is for abortion. The proper distinction between the two major factions in the abortion debate should be: those who are pro-choice and those who are anti-choice.
