Lawrence, Manhattan among ‘most hungover cities’

AP

Lawrence and Manhattan have much to be proud of, but being ranked No. 1 and No. 4, respectively, in the “25 most hungover cities” is not one of them. The Business Insider website ranked cities based on the prevalence of heavy drinking and binge drinking and the number of bars, liquor stores and breweries. Lawrence was tops – or worst – following by Fargo, N.D.; Fort Collins, Colo.; and Manhattan. According to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Census, 8.6 percent of Lawrence residents admitted to heavy drinking and 25.9 percent admitted to binge drinking, and the city has 28.3 bars, 24.8 liquor stores and 1.8 alcoholic beverage-producing establishments per 100,000 residents. – Phillip Brownlee
