Opinion Line Extra (Feb. 18)
The chasm in race relations today in America has grown wider than the Grand Canyon.
Far and away, the three worst presidents in the past 60 years are Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. It is not even close.
Sure, George W. Bush wasn’t a good public speaker, and made a mistake going into Iraq. But the worst president in modern history was Carter.
Justice Antonin Scalia had nothing to do with the election of the worst president in modern history. That mistake was made by the voting public in 2008 and again in 2012. Pray with me that “they” won’t make this same mistake with Hillary Clinton.
Gov. Sam Brownback has earned the disrespect of the nation. Who cares whom he endorses for president?
Candidates: Instead of trying to gain a presidency by catering to blacks and Latinos or women, lay out the reasons why you would be best for all Americans. Then blacks, Latinos and women can decide if what you have to offer is in the country’s best interest.
The female electorate is clamoring with breathless anticipation to elect Hillary Clinton as president. They have been awaiting this opportunity for the past 20 years to reward her courage in standing up for her husband against the phony bimbo eruptions that the Republicans kept sending at him.
The least Democrats could do was wait until Justice Antonin Scalia’s remains were cold before talking about who might replace him. He was not gone 24 hours when the Democrats were presenting replacements; and Obama has made his announcement he would appointment a candidate as soon as possible. Shame.
Republicans love the Constitution until it’s not their favor. They don’t want the president to use his constitutional authority to nominate a justice because he’s in his final year. Where does it say that? Reagan did it in 1988. All the disrespect, and yet he wins.
What is Mitch McConnell to do now? Either approve a moderately liberal Obama nominee for the Supreme Court, or risk the high probability of having to approve one of a series of wildly liberal nominees from Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.
So if my son’s teacher says the world was created in six days, climate change isn’t real, tax cuts for the wealthy create jobs, Obama wants to take our guns, fracking doesn’t cause earthquakes, and there’s a war on Christians, can I sue him for teaching obscenely ignorant right-wing crap?
The quality of news shows on all three Wichita TV channels is terrible. Anchors cannot even read the teleprompters correctly. They spend more time on self-promotion and advertising than on news.
