Huelskamp favors Cruz, but senators keeping distance
It’s telling that GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz has yet to be endorsed by any of his fellow U.S. senators. But his House supporters grew to 20 this week with an endorsement from Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler/Hutchinson. Getting past some bad blood with Cruz campaign manager Jeff Roe, whose Axiom Strategies had worked against Huelskamp in 2014, the 1st District congressman called Cruz a “full-spectrum conservative that the people of Kansas should rally behind.” Marco Rubio has the support of half a dozen fellow senators, including Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan.; Gov. Sam Brownback and Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, also have endorsed Rubio. – Rhonda Holman
