New science building boosts Newman, community

Newman University’s plans for a new science building will be a great boost both to the school and the community. Newman trains many of the nurses and other health professionals who work in this community, making it a key contributor to the region’s economy and quality of life. The school already has raised more than 80 percent of the funds for the $24.5 million building project, and it recently received a $1 million challenge grant toward the remaining $4.1 million. It plans to break ground on the facility June 10 and expects it to be open by fall 2017. We can’t wait. – Phillip Brownlee
