Shame on our legislators for freeing business owners from paying state income taxes, and then eliminating medical deductions on tax returns of seniors and the poor. In the next election we will be coming after you as payback for this dirty deed.


People told us we needed billions in transportation bonds to build roads because it would stimulate our economy and attract business. Now the same people are stealing those funds to pay for their budget-busting tax cuts. Maybe that’s why our state economic growth is so poor.


I would like to hear Sedgwick County Commissioner Richard Ranzau explain how he thinks expanding Medicaid is going to raise taxes on Wichita residents. The fact is, it won’t.


For Gloria Steinem and other supporters of Hillary Clinton: To paraphrase the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., I look forward to the day when candidates are judged by the content of their policies and not by the number of their X chromosomes.


Madeleine Albright has a “special place in hell for women who don’t help each other,” meaning who don’t support Hillary Clinton. It’s probably right next to the one for blacks who did not support Obama. I used to think of Albright as an intelligent woman.


As an employer of many young people, mostly college graduates, I see reality. They are smart and somewhat tech-savvy, but lacking in basic skills of writing, spelling, mathematics, systematic thought and legibility. “They can put a condom on a banana but can’t spell it” is the legacy of “higher education.”


Kudos to The Eagle for the front-page article about recess time (Feb. 9 Eagle). When I taught kindergarten, I saw the effects of the rigorous schedule and lack of fresh air and movement on young children. I applaud the parents for bringing the issue to the school board.


We live in a nation with two-thirds of people overweight or obese. Most children can only get exercise during the school day. It improves both their physical and cognitive functioning.


Maybe WSU can first field a football team in the Division II MIAA Conference that Emporia, Fort Hays and Pittsburg play in. Thus the Shockers could ease into a football program for less money and still use Cessna Stadium.


Am I the only one who hates the boxes that Pizza Hut uses?


Why does no one ever comment about real issues, like not being able to have Chick-fil-A on Sundays?
