Children’s Cabinet members upset with chairwoman
Several members of the Kansas Children’s Cabinet rebuked their chairwoman, Amanda Adkins, for developing funding recommendations with Gov. Sam Brownback for early childhood programs without getting approval from the rest of the cabinet, then presenting the recommendations as if they came from the group, the Topeka Capital-Journal reported. “Why even have a cabinet then?” LeEtta Felter complained. Adkins, who was put in charge of the cabinet by Brownback and is a former chairwoman of the Kansas Republican Party, said the state budgeting process didn’t allow enough time to get the group’s input. – Phillip Brownlee
