Opinion Line Extra (Feb. 4)

Donald Trump reminds me of Jesse Ventura. Neither one was a politician.

Both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are running primarily on the platform of: “I can get you more free stuff than they can.” The word that has been removed from the Democrat lexicon is “entitlement”; it has been replaced by “right.” A very sad reflection on progressive America.

It costs you zero to be a decent person, unless you have a trustworthiness problem like Hillary Clinton.

Hearing a socialist say “this isn’t the best way for democracy to work” is truly laughable.

The U.S. government is the biggest business in this country, maybe in the world. Having a businessman who knows how to make a profit as president might help get this country out of debt. Professional politicians know nothing but running in the red.

A joker in Wednesday’s Opinion Line claimed small businesses don’t pay Kansas state taxes. I have been a small businessman for 20 years and have paid Kansas taxes every year. Get your facts right before opening your mouth.

Wasn’t it the FBI, not the Bureau of Land Management, that shot LaVoy Finicum? Wasn’t it about hijacking a federal property, not grazing rights? Wasn’t he reaching for something other than the skies when shot? Is there an alternative video out there, like that falsified one on Planned Parenthood?

The real question we Americans should be asking: Why is our government so afraid of the Burns, Ore., situation? So afraid that they’d shoot a man with his hands in the air over a traffic stop? There’s a lot more to this story that Big Brother doesn’t want you to know.

The video shows Finicum reaching into his pockets twice. I am certain he was immediately told “hands up.” He did not do as told. As to the BLM being in a rush: Nonsense. That was three weeks after the fact. If you state otherwise, you need either your eyes or head examined.

Maybe all the local sportswriters and WSU fans should quit whining about awards and records until they get in a real conference. Face it – there is just no competition this year. Next year will be different when the seniors leave and WSU has to start with a young squad.

If the Broncos are overrated and lucky, it looks like they just might be pretty good, too. As for the Patriots being arrogant cheaters: Every team stretches the rules. If they are “cheating,” they must not be very good at it, because they seem to get caught more than other teams.

It is reported that five NFL teams are desperate enough to sign Johnny Manziel. If any team considers him, it should turn in its footballs and find another line of work. It has clearly given up on winning football games.
