Opinion Line (Jan. 11)
Many jobs bills have been offered that would increase employment much more than the Keystone XL pipeline while improving our infrastructure. Why hasn’t The Eagle editorial board urged the GOP Congress to consider those? Keystone will do nothing positive for the U.S. except to line politicians’ pockets.
President Obama is pushing a plan now for free community college. I don’t know why he wouldn’t. His free health care has gone so well.
Obama doesn’t do anything that isn’t political. Free junior college tuition means 9 million more voters for the Democrats and more tax money from us.
Police are ambushed by criminals, 5-year-olds are tossed off bridges, Europe is at war with Islamic terrorists, and our president announces an unfunded program for free community college tuition. What leadership.
What just occurred in France is a vivid demonstration of the results from leftist government control.
Frenchman, beware. Freedoms surrendered in the panicking wake of a handful of killings by terrorists will be difficult if not impossible to wrest from the grasp of government without the deaths of thousands of innocent rebellious citizens.
Pearl Harbor was not actually an act of war, just a limited airstrike with no boots on the ground. Sound familiar?
A legislator has a bill to provide a state minimum-wage increase so working-class folks may earn enough to feed their families. To anyone with a heart it seems reasonable, but since the author is Wichita Democrat Jim Ward, cold-blooded GOP politicians will ignore it and continue tax cuts assisting the wealthy.
So, Gov. Sam Brownback gets caught misleading Kansans (again) regarding job growth in our state and how well his policies are working. What a shocking surprise. Just tell us anything, and we will believe.
The Republican Koch brothers need to give the Republican Brownback the millions he lost by creating a big tax break for big business. Then they can rename Kansas “Kankoch” and put dollar bills on the new state flag.
I don’t understand. The City Council needed a 1-cent sales tax to pay for streets, water, jobs and buses because it doesn’t have enough money. But it can pay to rename the airport and build a library.
The Wichita library project sounds like my kids: We found $8 so let’s go spend $30 on dinner. The car payment can wait.
I think we should start thinking about putting prison inmates to work doing the labor that illegal immigrants do. Since it’s work Americans don’t want to do, it will be a nice punishment and discourage illegal immigration.
Someone should call North Dakota and ask them to take their winter back.
Don’t you just love hearing someone say “at the end of the day”?
