Opinion Line (Jan. 10)

Thank you to the cartoonists and editors of Charlie Hebdo in Paris who showed us all what true courage looks like when it comes to free speech. We will honor you by continuing your work. Vive la France, vive la liberte!

I cannot understand why Obama and his administration officials will not use the words “Islamic terrorists/radicals” when reluctantly commenting on those cold-blooded murders. They have no trouble immediately identifying racial prejudices in the police fraternity nationwide.

We cannot call Islamic terrorists “Islamic terrorists” because it would make every Muslim in the world mad at us? Can anyone imagine Eisenhower or Churchill being afraid to call the Nazis “Nazis” because it would make every German in the world mad at us? What rubbish.

I’d be willing to pay more to watch KAKE and ABC if Cox would make up the revenue by dropping about two dozen lousy channels from the current lineup.

Do you think the SEC Conference now understands the difference between winning a championship and having one bestowed upon you?

Obese is not the new normal. It is the new average.

I drive the speed limit not because I’m righteous, high and mighty, but because I have had two speeding tickets in three years and do not want to pay any more fines or higher insurance rates. I would rather be driving 10 miles over the speed limit.
