Why is it that the loudest people in public places are usually the least interesting?

I am a retired Army veteran and I have to pay for my dental care. But the Carr brothers and Charlie Manson don’t. Go figure.

Donald Trump is passing out Kool-Aid. Get in line.

Attention, all ardent Trump devotees: Be very worried about your tough-talking leader throwing childish tantrums and boycotting humanity every time he doesn’t get his way.

Wichita’s USD 259 announces it could need $27 million more to operate. Why, I ask, as the federal government says seniors do not need an increase in Social Security? If we are expected to live on a flat budget, then why not the schools or any other tax-supported organization?

When a Wichita schools official says there is no more low-hanging fruit to cut, consider this: How about cutting some of the high-hanging fruit?

The Kansas Turnpike Authority is raising fees on the governor’s cash cow (the turnpike). Wonder how long it will take him to grab this money to use for his failed tax policy.

Gov. Sam Brownback needs to apologize and restore funding to Planned Parenthood. He used lies as a basis for his original justification.

The claim in the Jan. 22 Opinion Line that there hasn’t been a KanCare ombudsman for two years was a blatant and provable falsehood. The KanCare ombudsman is Kerrie Bacon, a very professional and helpful lady.

If women, or men, want to be treated as professionals and with respect, they need to dress with dignity and modesty when they appear in public. Thank you, state Sen. Mitch Holmes, for reminding us.

It’s unfortunate that we live in an age when some women don’t know what an iron or hairbrush is, let alone a dress and, worse, think low-cut T-shirts and leggings are supposed to be a daily uniform.

Holmes had no right to blame women for the thoughts and feelings that arise in men when they see women or images of women. Those women are not the ones required to change.

St. John has about 1,240 residents, and Stafford County has about 4,300. Is Holmes the best they could do for state Senate?

There are certain things that should be reserved for the fairer sex, and one of them is a hair bun.
