An article in the Hill focused on the emergence of Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, as “an influential hawk” with three key assignments – as member of the House Intelligence Committee and the special House panel investigating the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack and, most recently, as a leader of a probe into whether the military’s Central Command manipulated intelligence reports to fit the Obama administration’s political narrative on ISIS. Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., called Pompeo a “nonstop worker” and made a prediction: “With his background and experience, if there was a Republican president elected, I think he would be on the short list for some type of appointment.” – Rhonda Holman
