Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler/Hutchinson, spent more than twice as much on taxpayer-funded constituent mailings as Kansas’ other three U.S. House members combined, the Hutchinson News reported. Huelskamp spent about $116,000 from January through September 2015, while Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Topeka, spent $30,000 and Reps. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, and Kevin Yoder, R-Overland Park, each spent less than $10,000. Huelskamp argued that the mailings were needed because the “liberal media ignores” his work. His two opponents in this year’s GOP primary are calling on Huelskamp to pay back the cost of some of the mailings, which they contend were campaign materials. – Phillip Brownlee
