It’s past time for the Wichita school board to name a school in honor of Barack Obama. Beyond his Kansas roots, his inspiration to the world should be more than enough reason to act.
The Hillary Clinton presidential campaign is clearly feeling the Bern.
If the vote for the presidency were based on actual numbers of votes cast and not the electoral vote, Donald Trump would win in a landslide. Therefore Trump won’t win, because the way we vote is corrupt and archaic.
I used to love visiting New York City. The liberal policies of the governor and the mayor have wittingly hastened the decline of this once-great city. Something for nothing, coercive taxation, race-based politics, cronyism and political correctness will destroy.
I read about Harrison Ford’s visit to Sabor. What’s with these people asking him to pose for pictures while he is having dinner? Celebrity or not, this is very rude and inconsiderate. Wichita, show a little class.
Regarding Sunday’s Together Wichita section: Until basic human services, expected freedoms and honest government are returned to us, these companies are putting lipstick on a pig.
The Together Wichita section had interesting articles about some of the people and businesses that make this city operate. Only one thing was missing – a word about repairs of city streets that are 65 years overdue.
I want to love Wichita and will happily pay my taxes for clean water, safe and repaired streets, solid police and fire protection with community policing efforts, and great public schools. We’ll all feel more friendly if we accomplish these goals that our citizens have stressed for so many years.
I would rather put the Sedgwick County Commission in charge of more tax revenues. It at least is trying to rein in spending. The city would take the funds and spend them on more projects we do not need, and that most of us do not want or use.
The state keeps being unable to meet budget without taking from dedicated funding sources. Some years I come up short. What to do? Quit giving money to friends and cronies. Never give away what you need to meet your obligations.
I had thought about replacing my 2006 automobile, but then thought about the sales tax I’d have to pay. The governor and Legislature haven’t done anything that would benefit us seniors, so why should I help them heal their self-inflicted wounds?
