Opinion Line (Jan. 7)

Watch in the next few weeks – you’re going to see the absolute definition of a dictator in the White House as he refuses to sign democratically passed legislative bills that are desired by the American citizens.

In the recent elections, Republicans fared well. Failing to listen, President Obama’s EPA is preparing to enforce even lower pollution standards, requiring business to spend billions. Industry has been struggling to implement previous EPA standards. The Obama administration keeps moving the goalposts.

On New Year’s Eve I expected Obama to celebrate as he does every other day of the year, by dropping the ball.

Please, let’s not put another Bush or Clinton in the White House.

“Colorado is going to be sorry it legalized marijuana. More crime, impaired driving, homelessness….” You left out broken families, lost paychecks, hungry kids, etc. It sounds just like what Kansas is getting with all the casinos.

If it’s now illegal to take financial advantage of the elderly in Kansas, someone should tell Gov. Sam Brownback before he gets arrested.

Kansas does not have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem. That’s what so many of our leaders say. Pay all elected officials in no-fund warrants until they balance the budget. Problem solved.

All that fuss over Paul Davis at a strip club, but I don’t see Brownback or the Legislature doing anything about them. I guess they want them open for some reason.

Obese is the new normal.

Why isn’t there any hue and cry about the women on Fox News seemingly being required to wear tulip-colored minidresses while the men around them wear three layers of clothing?

It is not an “accidental shooting” if you leave a fully loaded gun – safety off, bullet in the chamber – in reach of a child. A “hot” gun is primed to do the only thing it was created to do, and that is to kill someone.

The reason we have the Second Amendment is so we can have the chance to own the same weapons as our leaders, and keep them until they may be needed. If our leaders oppress us unconstitutionally and they have guns and we have sticks, it’s over. No one can fight back even if he wants to.

When all is said and done, there will be two mythical college football champions – TCU and the winner of the subjective four-team playoff that was supposed to create a true champion. Congratulations to TCU and coach Gary Patterson, who share the championship in the eyes of true sports fans.
