Opinion Line (Jan. 6)
I don’t know what brings me more joy and hope for the new year – the GOP’s sweeping victories, or the whippin’ the Ducks gave the Seminoles. In either case, the losers were way overrated.
I just had a very happy New Year’s thought. After their present terms, Barack Obama can never be president of the United States again and Sam Brownback can never be governor of the state of Kansas again.
People say they want better schools, better roads and more prisons. Then they say they want lower taxes. You can’t have both. Someone has to pay for those schools, roads and prisons.
Brownback and legislative cronies would require teachers to pay more to fund KPERS, snag some funds from KPERS to cover fiscal deficits, and have political campaigns to demonize judges whose rulings require the state to honor constitutional provisions for suitable public education. Thank goodness for an independent judicial branch.
A 2014 survey of United Van Lines customers found that among those leaving Kansas, “66 percent said they were moving because of a new job or job transfer.” Liberal, Obama-loving activist van line! Lies! All lies! Sunshine all the time!
It’s about time you liberal Harry Reid wannabes started to appreciate what the Kochs do for our community.
Obamacare mandate just kicked in. More unannounced negative consequences to follow.
Thank God – finally a candidate for mayor who knows how to do the job. My vote will be for Bob Knight and his record of accomplishment. Knight doesn’t just make promises, he gets results. Welcome back.
Bob Knight had his chance as mayor, and maybe that is why we are the shape we are in. Time for fresh ideas. After being retired for 12 years, it would be hard to be relevant again.
Enough “not all cops are bad” letters, OK? Everyone knows this. How about we just try and then convict or acquit cops who are suspected of murder? With either outcome we’d see less hate, fewer protests and a lot more respect for them out on the streets.
I have known too many people who have gotten a flu shot and ended up sick as a dog anyway. It’s another scam perpetrated by the drug companies. Staying healthy has more to do with personal hygiene.
Last Tuesday nobody paid for my lunch anonymously. The next day I paid it forward and didn’t pay for anybody’s lunch either. If you’re going to “pay it forward,” just do it. You don’t have to announce it.
