Opinion Line Extra (Jan. 13)
In this day and age, if there were a contest for the strangest spelling or pronunciation of someone’s name, there would be many first-place ties.
I used to dream of using words like “ahistorical,” but all I get to say is “stupid.”
Some men wear baseball caps and hats in restaurants because they are bald, just like the men wearing cowboy hats when the sun is down. The baldness comes from the female side.
I wonder how much tax money is spent for Wichita city employees to belong to these tax-supported lobby groups. Of course, they do get free trips to attend the lobby group meetings.
The intellectually challenged masses who choose – for their own fetid reasons and at their own peril – to support and cheer on Donald Trump will eventually get what they deserve when they realize that they’ve been played and that he truly doesn’t give a rodent’s buttocks about them either.
Thank you for printing Rob Schenk’s commentary (Jan. 2 Opinion). I’ve always believed Christians owning guns solely for “shooting the bad guy” negates the religious principles they are supposedly committed to. Proverbs 29:25 should be the only protection you need.
To the small minority who object to “no guns allowed” signs: Real men don’t need guns, and paranoia is a mental illness.
The hypocrisy of the GOP runs rampant. They scream about President Obama’s failure to keep Americans safe from foreign terrorist threats, yet support the “right” of anyone to get any type of gun, no questions asked. I guess it’s OK if our own citizens kill each other, just not foreigners.
Those who say “fear will destroy us” are actually the ones who are the most fearful, and the bad guys smell the fearful. Go drink more Kool-Aid and add more sugar in it, and that should really scare ’em.
Immigration is a privilege not a right, and can be taken away from anyone not wanting to assimilate to our culture.
If Jesus loves bigotry, greed, intolerance and the like, I suppose it’s possible he still loves Kansas as well. Kansas hasn’t always been this way and Kansas doesn’t have to stay this way. What say we try compassion, generosity and understanding instead?
OK, people, once again: The real minimum wage is zero. You don’t work, they don’t pay you. It applies to the private sector. All bets are off for some people in government jobs, from what I hear.
Does it shock anyone to know that if you won an $800 million lottery you would only take home $274 million after taxes? It’s ridiculous that you have to pay so much in taxes. Think about this when you vote (yes, I could live on $274 million but that’s not the point).
