Congratulations to the Wichita Public Library Foundation for drawing nearer to its $8 million fundraising goal for the new downtown “Advanced Learning Library” with a generous $1 million contribution from the Naftzger Fund for Fine Arts. The project continues the Naftzger family’s long tradition of furthering local causes related to education, culture and civic life. Now the rest of the community needs to help the foundation raise the remaining $2.5 million, and demonstrate to any remaining City Hall skeptics that Wichitans are ready to get on with building the $30 million project at Second and McLean. – Rhonda Holman
