The job of a state legislator is to represent those who elected him or her. You cannot represent those you do not converse with, and one public forum per year does not count as much of a conversation. We, not the legislators, should organize such meetings and hold no-shows accountable.
Who cares whether Gov. Sam Brownback’s State of the State speech is televised? It will just be another fairy tale from the alternate reality in which he and Speaker Ray Merrick live. All problems are caused by Obama. Otherwise things are hunky-dory, despite massive evidence to the contrary.

Seriously? I saw a white Lexus SUV that looks just like a Stormtrooper in front.

Why don’t the local TV stations just call their news “The Commercial Program With an Occasional News Story Tossed in”?
Thank goodness for the mute button when the “up,” “down,” “even” people come on for the Prairie Band Casino commercial.
On New Year’s Eve, my husband and I had dinner at Casa Martinez in Derby. The manager told us the bill had been paid by another diner. What a pleasant surprise. We’ll pass it forward.
