Opinion Line (Jan. 3)

By re-electing Gov. Sam Brownback, Kansas voters missed what might have been their sole opportunity to signal state legislators that it’s OK to to reverse the governor’s policies and set Kansas back on a fiscally responsible path.

How can Kansas tax everything and have comparatively high gas taxes, yet claim it’s short of money? We need to cut government jobs, as there are way too many working for the state. Cut the gas taxes and make do, like the rest of us do.

We will have a wonderful 2015, because the sun is shining in Kansas, and don’t let anybody tell you any differently.

Regarding Envision’s new radio station: Great – another new format playing stuff that’s already on the air. Why can’t we have something new and different like a jazz station, or classical or oldies? But, no, just a twist on what’s already on the air. Boring.

WSU fans need to face the fact the honeymoon is over and tough sailing is ahead.

Football players whine and claim to be so concerned about injuries, and yet many have hair so long that it extends below their helmets and often halfway down their back. A very obvious safety hazard.

If I were a young person in the job search mode, I’d pursue one job that keeps on paying no matter how many years of losing you do – high school basketball or football coach.

Let each and every one of us make a New Year’s resolution to “pay it forward” just once in 2015. It’s a resolution that everyone could keep. Start today, and help your fellow man.
