It is past time to cap retirement benefits at $20,000 per year for each congressman and $40,000 per year for a president.
Donald Trump reminds me of the traveling medicine show in which a self-proclaimed professor offers his cure-all elixir to an adoring audience. All bluster and no substance.
Regarding “Hearing set for bill outlawing anti-gay bias” (Jan. 2 Eagle): House Bill 2323 is nothing more than a gift to the trial lawyers who like to file frivolous lawsuits.
If Gov. Sam Brownback had actually campaigned on raising our taxes and making government run worse, we’d probably still have elected him. Because we’re stupid.
There is a “war on cops,” not physical but psychological and legal. The war is real nonetheless, causing the police to hold back. The losers are citizens, with crime rates through the roof in cities like Baltimore.
Where did we come from? Why are we here? Science is answering the first question. Now what about that second one?
Can one actually have a crisis of faith when the gods of football don’t let your team win a bowl game?
Does anyone else in Maize have a problem with a barking dog? We have complained to the owners and the city, but still live with the stress and noise. We paid tens of thousands of dollars for our home and are held hostage by this dog and owner.
Some restaurants in Wichita need to turn down their background music. My wife and I recently went to a nice restaurant in Old Town, and the jazz was at least three times too loud. They wouldn’t turn it down even though there was only one other couple there besides us.
The new Insight section is much appreciated, and The Eagle’s informative articles, especially about recycling and the Osawatomie State Hospital, are timely and necessary. I am impressed with the thorough, professional work of the reporters and other journalists.
I have found my paper in my neighbors’ yards (both sides), in the gutter during a rainstorm, in the street and not at all. I recently received two Sunday papers.
After 15 years of fair-to-poor carrier service, I now have one who is fantastic. My paper is on the porch 90 percent of the time. I can’t tell you how grateful I am.
