Count House Elections Committee Chairman Mark Kahrs, R-Wichita, among those interested in changing state law to allow audits of election results under certain circumstances. Responding to an Eagle editorial about the Sedgwick County Commission’s inclusion of such a statute change in its 2016 legislative platform, Kahrs said via e-mail: “This will be a priority for me in my committee.” Wichita statistician Elizabeth Clarkson has an ongoing lawsuit seeking access to Sedgwick County data that would enable her to check out what she’s found to be statistical anomalies in the 2014 election. All legislators should support changing state law to allow such transparency. – Rhonda Holman
