Opinion Line (Jan. 2)

If Charles Koch were the president of the USA, this country would not be $18 trillion in debt and there would be morals and respect for each other.

If you think it was coincidence that the Kochs made nice by donating that money to WSU just a week before it was reported that they had single-handedly defeated the much-needed sales tax with their wealth, I have a bridge I’d like to sell you.

The Koch propaganda machine is working overtime trying to rehabilitate the name of Wichita’s “press-shy” family.

An inefficient and inconvenient transit system; rough and bumpy residential streets; no feasible plan to prevent future water shortages; more jobs lost to competing cities. Thanks, Koch brothers, for more of your unsung generosity.

Judging from the Sunday Eagle, I assume that Charles Koch will amend Koch Industries’ job application form to ask, “Have you been convicted of a violent felony?” rather than to just generally ask about a felony conviction. Right?

President Obama claimed that illegal immigrants do not burden taxpayers and are not a drain on public resources. Is there anyone other than taxpayers who are going to be responsible for their education and welfare?

The Obama administration’s amnesty policies demonstrate a willingness to open our borders to unlimited numbers of illegal aliens despite the gigantic cost. Woe to us American taxpayers. Woe to the United States.

My New Year’s resolution is to stop being politically correct. This PC stuff has become asinine.

Want a New Year’s resolution? Take down the wind chimes. I’d like to do backyard work this year.

I support the police. Criminals should be sent to prison.

Variety and quality of products and competitive pricing are disappearing from our local groceries. The marketplace dictates what we buy, at the price it wants to charge, for the choices we don’t get to select. What happened to competitive, free enterprise?

I’m not saying, “Let’s go kill all the stupid people.” I’m just saying, “Let’s remove all the warning labels and let the problem work itself out.”

The economy must be doing well. I saw 20 morons burning fuel sitting in idling automobiles, waiting in line to pay $4 for a cup of coffee.

Many thanks to the UPS, FedEx and postal workers for getting all of our Christmas packages here on time and in great shape. Happy New Year.

Hey, guys – if you are unable to grow a full beard, shave.
