Opinion Line Extra (Dec. 31)
I don’t blame Kansas for wanting to keep marijuana illegal. Why give the state hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes? Gov. Sam Brownback would just squander the money anyway.
I’m very supportive of having the slots at the former Wichita Greyhound Park. I’m not supportive of Brownback or any of his legislators having their hands in that till, though.
What I heard in listening to the batch of super-tough post-draft age Republican candidates trying to prove they can be a war president no different from George W. Bush is: “If it’s war you want, vote for me and war is what you’ll get.”
To Wichita police and Sedgwick County sheriff’s officers: Please initiate prolonged efforts to ticket all drivers without their lights on when it is legally required. The problem of unlit vehicles is rampant in and around Wichita in the early morning, before and after dark, and during rain and fog.

Finally, someone admits there is no contractual agreement with the government for Social Security benefits to be paid. Now, how about we charge them with theft, because I never signed for anyone to steal that money out of my paycheck?
I was up in the air on whom to support for president until I saw the spontaneous, unstaged photos of the Clinton family out for a stroll with Chelsea’s new baby. It was so heartwarming that I can’t imagine voting for anyone else. We need a sincere, loving grandmother in charge.
If news media would spend as much time promoting Christianity as they do promoting Islam, this world would be a much better place.
Two of the national 7 to 9 a.m. news channels spend so much time carrying on about nothing that when a really good segment comes on and you want to hear more about it, they rush through it so they can get back to themselves.
Please don’t pay for my meal or groceries. I can pay for my own. If you have money to give, send it to the Lord’s Diner.
The local TV meteorologists are really bad at forecasting how much snow we will get.
