Opinion Line Extra (Dec. 28)

It’s so funny to see how gun enthusiasts try to interpret the Second Amendment to suit their own personal agenda.

The latest Democrat-sought incremental restriction of Second Amendment rights was no gun purchases by people on the “no-fly list.” The list is notoriously inaccurate. Teddy Kennedy was once listed, and reportedly 72 current Department of Homeland Security employees are listed.

It is a tragic though common mistake to believe we have the right to bear arms because of the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment exists to protect our God-given right to bear arms to protect ourselves, most of all against tyrants.

Ironically, the Democrat debaters spent more time talking about Donald Trump than they did about their own agendas.

Donald Trump proves that anyone can grow up to be president of the United States.

Let’s elect a Canadian-born Cuban who now calls Texas his home. Isn’t that the worst of all possible worlds?

A newspaper article (Washington Times) says that Obamacare’s costs are beginning to add up to a disaster. How can that be? Nancy Pelosi said it was free, free, free.

If your low expectations are met because you get your mail, the roads are paved, the traffic lights work and there are police on the streets, you should be questioning why we even have a president since he has nothing to do with any of that.

My son asked me if Santa Claus was real. I told him that Santa was make-believe but we have something better in the White House and his name is Barack Obama.

Every time I see U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom at one of his photo ops I think, “Hey, Barry, Harry Potter called and he wants his glasses back.”

We, the stupid who use our headlights when it isn’t dark, think it is just as important to be seen as it is to see. Besides, there is a state law that requires headlights when your wipers are on.

The two most important “benefits” to having your headlights on when it’s raining are: It’s a Kansas law and so we can see you self-righteous idiots.

The person who has a problem with purple, red and blue hair is obviously a Republican.

Please send a prayer to all the people who have mourned the loss of Billy Graham’s column in The Wichita Eagle. Send more prayers to bring him back.

Barbecue restaurants in this town are way overpriced. I recently ordered a side of corn at one for $2.19; about four bites and it was gone. I could have bought three cans of corn at the grocery store.
