Opinion Line (Dec. 30)

It’s not the 75 mph speed limit that’s the killer. It’s the 85 and 90 mph driven by most drivers. We need increased law enforcement.

What a surprise! What a shock! What a revelation! The faster you drive, the more chances you have of being killed or injured.

With gas under $2, I wonder when all the fuel surcharges will be removed from my bills, and perhaps a fuel credit issued instead. I just got the Waste Connections bill, and the fuel surcharge was almost $12.

I notice that Obama supporters are giving him credit for low gas prices. These are the same ones who say he can’t bring down the prices when the gas is high.

The fact that the economy is slowly improving despite Obama’s plans will only increase the speed at which he tries to impose his will on us.

It is too bad that such an inane movie caused an international incident. It might have been avoided had the Senate Republicans not filibustered the 2012 cybersecurity law. National security should not be a partisan issue.

“Christian nation” my foot. Ask the American Indians how that Christian love worked for them. This is a nation of greed – greed for land, money, political power. Be thankful God has grace for every country.

Gov. Sam Brownback should legalize marijuana to help save his tax plan. It would create jobs in farming, retail and transportation, and add tax revenue for sales and income tax without raising taxes. Spending on policing and jails could be cut. It’s a perfect match for the Republican agenda.

If you are wondering what the teachers ever did to Brownback, I’d suggest daring to teach evolution and independent thinking in the schools would be at the top of the list.

Do you anti-gun zealots honestly think stricter gun laws would prevent creeps like the baggage-handling gun smuggler from doing what he did? Breaking laws is what evil people do. The only thing stricter gun laws will do is add more charges after they commit their heinous crimes.

Even though WSU lost to George Washington University, my hat is off to Fred VanVleet. I’ve never seen a player put so much into a game. He gave 110 percent, 100 percent of the time.

I saw a TV report about the best batteries to buy for your kids’ toys. I think the cheap ones are best because they run down more quickly. Oh, for the peace and quiet.

It’s official: I’m over-Facebooked. I found myself wanting to “like” an Opinion Line comment – in the printed newspaper.
