Whose dumb idea was it to give kids self-esteem? I say no self-esteem until you have a job and are living on your own.
So what is the truth, Governor? Did Obamacare cause the state’s budget shortfall, or are we now raking in the dough because of the law? Did the tax cuts for the wealthy and big business cause the shortfall, or are we raking in the dough because of the cuts?
If the state wants to balance the budget, it might want to follow New Mexico’s lead. Its legislators serve without pay.
Have you ever noticed that when The Eagle writes an article about school finance and cost per student, it never mentions how much of that cost is for sports?
I tried being more liberal this past year, but my pursuit of liberty and happiness got in the way.
When politicians go to Iraq or Afghanistan, they always come back reporting how good troop morale is. If this is true, why are troops committing suicide at such an alarming rate?
“Cheap labor isn’t skilled. Skilled labor isn’t cheap.” But doing it right the first time is less expensive.
More than four decades into selective admissions based not on qualification but on race, aka affirmative action, we have a verdict. School dropouts and illiteracy among minorities, especially African-Americans, support strongly the notion that the social engineering experiment is a failure. The African-American culture must change.
The first Bush brought us the savings and loan crisis. The second Bush brought us the economic crisis and the bailout of the banks. What will a third Bush bring?
To require that something not be labeled seems backward. If we are going to have a federal law about uniform labeling of GMO foods, it should require that they be labeled. I think they are safe, but not everyone does and people should have a choice.
Gas prices are at a six-year low and the stock market is at record highs. I blame Obama.
The president signed the federal law outlawing loud TV commercials in December 2010. So why aren’t the TV stations complying with this law? I guess that business controls the government.
Colby Liston lost both legs because of a second-offense drunken driver. The offense is only a misdemeanor, with maximum punishment one year in jail. The offense should be a felony with five years in jail.
After finishing reading the Opinion page on Christmas Day, my eyes had filled with tears. That was absolutely my best Christmas present this year.
