Quick response to local VA allegations appropriate

Good for Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., and a House subcommittee led by Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Colo., for responding quickly to allegations involving an unnamed surgeon at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center. The University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita removed surgical trainees from a service involving the surgeon last week – a move intended to protect the integrity of the learning environment and program. Citing Eagle articles, Coffman wrote Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald on Tuesday seeking information on the surgeon and allegations. Last week Roberts asked the VA deputy inspector general to investigate. – Rhonda Holman
