Opinion Line Extra (Dec. 25)
Instead of paying for a stranger’s meal in a restaurant or someone’s double mocha latte at Starbucks, use that money for good. Use it to help the elderly, veterans or homeless. You will help them tremendously, more than you will probably ever know, and will feel much better about yourself.
The question I would like to know about the amount of income that our Congress and president receive: Why are we the people paying for their retirement? Why aren’t they paying into Social Security like the rest of us who work hard at their jobs? Why don’t they have the same health care as we have?
President Obama chastised Sony executives for a business decision they made. Later, in the same press conference, he said he was going to focus on helping “ordinary Americans.” How can he be having any fun on his Hawaiian vacation with both of his feet in his mouth?
Obama said that Sony should have contacted him before pulling its film. Why not suggest instead that Sony contact Al Gore? Since he’s the one who invented the Internet, he certainly could have solved its predicament.
Sony and the rest of Hollywood don’t even bow to God, but they crumble before North Korea.
Dear Mr. President: Should I go see a movie this weekend? Please let me know. Thanks.
Interesting what we’ve done. We trust North Korean hackers to follow up on their promises to retaliate if the movie is shown. We do not trust our president or Department of Homeland Security when they say there is no threat.
North Korea hacking into American computers. Where is Dennis Rodman when we need him?
What’s more shocking and reprehensible than the report detailing atrocities done by CIA interrogators is the “oh, that’s just fine” attitude from many U.S. citizens as reflected in Opinion Line. We used to have a moral compass. To call this a Christian nation is an insult to that religion.
I have not been able to find a reference to Jesus executing any criminals. I guess most of the good Christians get confused between the Old Testament and the New Testament.
A letter writer blamed terrorism on poverty. We’ve read similar excuses for crime. The facts are that crime is committed by criminals and terrorism today is committed mostly by Islamic fundamentalists, rich and poor.
Brine is divine if you don’t mind that it will rust and destroy your vehicle.
If no one in the school district can tell a toy gun from a real one, it is time to have a gun expert on call. Afford the guy gas money; I am sure you could get a volunteer to do it.
