Car allowances more generous at Sedgwick County

In case this month’s approvals of raises for the Wichita City Council and mayor and possible car allowances for more Sedgwick County officials left anyone else wondering: Yes, car allowances are part of the compensation for elected leaders on both sides of Central Avenue. County commissioners’ allowances are for up to $4,800 a year each, while the mayor and City Council members each receive $92.31 per paycheck every two weeks, or $2,400 a year. – Rhonda Holman
