Opinion Line Extra (Dec. 24)

The Republican concept of diplomacy is that we are better off by refusing to talk to those with an opposing opinion. That sort of reasoning hasn’t worked with either Cuba or North Korea but seems to be the dominant theory.

Now it seems we’re in a part of Obama’s transformation where free speech hurting others is accepted and encouraged.

People need to get their facts correct. Obama lost in Iraq and Afghanistan because he chose to. Those conflicts were lost during the Obama years when he announced that we were quitting due to his own incompetent decisions.

All these commercials telling people about their “guaranteed subsidy” for the mistake of Obamacare are irksome. Have we sunk so low that we are a nation of “entitled” beggars? I thought that beggars had to take their chances, but, no, now it’s guaranteed. Ridiculous.

Why haven’t we heard Attorney General Eric Holder announce that the Obama Justice Department is going to investigate the cold-blooded execution of three police officers as hate crimes? He wasted little time doing so when it involved the justifiable shooting of a “young black male.”

Officers trained to use guns couldn’t stop those the NRA claims have the right to carry. Is this the kind of protection gun ownership offers? The weapon is only as safe as the person carrying it, and too many out there shouldn’t even be close to one.

To all fellow conservatives: Just say “no” to Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney and Chris Christie. We must make our voices be heard and demand true conservatives as candidates, or absolutely nothing will change.

Now that Congress has adjourned, is Sen. Pat Roberts in Kansas?

If you make it legal to get a driver’s license for illegal trespassers, then you should make it legal to grow marijuana. It’s illegal to smoke it but OK to grow it. Makes about as much sense as giving an illegal trespasser a legal driver’s license, huh?

In this big cow town, no matter how skilled you are at using the accelerate and merge lane, there will almost always be some jerk who will speed up and try to cut you off.

Some of the dumbest things are when zoos (Sedgwick County’s, are you listening?) parade the animals out with Christmas gifts or pumpkins or whatever, thinking, “Oh, how cute.” Better we should just let animals be animals and stop being so dumb.

Retailers, if you do not have the item in your store, I am not going to order and wait for it. I can do that online and have it delivered to my front porch.
