Opinion Line Extra (Dec. 9)

I am getting tired of being roughly shaken awake by earthquakes in Kansas. Earthquakes in Kansas started with fracking. Our leaders need to get serious about stopping the process in Kansas and Oklahoma.

Sedgwick County already has a mechanism for the county clerk, register of deeds, election commissioner and treasurer to document a need for a car allowance: the travel policy. If a car allowance is needed, then official mileage reimbursements documented over past years via the travel policy will substantiate that need.

How much does the city of Wichita spend on tax-supported lobby groups such as the National League of Cities? Why isn’t this broken out in the city budget?

It should be illegal for our tax money to be used for our solons to attend a conference held by a lobbying organization (e.g., the American Legislative Exchange Council). In fact, don’t most lobbying groups go to the solons’ offices?

Sam Brownback is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Republican Party platform, the anti-Robin Hood program. Take from the poor, higher sales taxes and income taxes to eliminate the taxes for the wealthy.

I have not met anyone who admits voting for Paul Davis for governor.

I’m so tired of arguing with anti-gunners. If you don’t see a need to have the means to defend yourself and your family in this day and age, I hope God and 911 can help you out when they start shooting at you.

Will the sane and rational among us ever step up to defend the rights of the innocents who are being targeted? Will we never learn, and just continue to let the inmates run the asylum? Unfettered access to guns should never be allowed to take precedence over someone’s right to live.

I am disappointed at this paper allowing snide, mocking comments against God and Christianity. You would never allow Islam or Muslims to be disrespected this way.

Considering all the conservatives’ complaints in the Opinion Line about how bad the U.S. has become, it’s a wonder more of them haven’t become expatriates. Or perhaps this country hasn’t fallen as far as they say.

No maliciously ignorant opinion is too much for Opinion Line, especially if about President Obama.

President Obama, who proclaimed himself “madder than hell” when the VA scandal first broke, apparently can no longer be bothered to care as he gallivants around the planet fretting about climate change.

If you drive in the dark, rain, snow, fog, smoke or dust in the city without headlights on or only the parking lights, you are a moron. If you do so on the highway at highway speeds, you are a certifiable, quantifiable imbecile.
